Suspect arrested in connection with Tuesday’s shooting in Desert Hot Springs
A man suspected of the attempted murder of another man early Tuesday morning in Desert Hot Springs was arrested Wednesday.
Police from the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force and the Desert Hot Springs Police Department identified Guillermo Rodriguez Lara, 22, of Desert Hot Springs as the suspect in the attempted homicide of a man on Tuesday, according to Sgt. Paul Heredia with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Rodriguez Lara is suspected of shooting another man in the chest on Tuesday, Heredia said. Police at the scene Tuesday said the shooting happened at 6:05 a.m. during a fight between two individuals.
Officers said the victim was shot in the upper torso. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. There has no update on his condition.
Rodriguez Lara was arrested around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday without incident at the Larson Justice Center in the 46200 block of Oasis Street in Indio on suspicion of attempted homicide.
