Mexico fans celebrate second consecutive win in World Cup

Customers packed in at Burgers and Beer in Rancho Mirage to watch Mexico defeat South Korea in a World Cup group game Saturday morning. Mexico fans celebrated the win after El Tri defeated the South Koreans 2-1.

They broke out with “Mexico” chants and waved flags each time the team scored and once they sealed the win.

The game came after Mexico scored a huge upset over Germany, the number one ranked soccer team in the world, last week. One fan said she became more confident El Tri could actually win the World Cup.

“I’m proud. I’m very proud. It’s like, we could actually do this…yeah,” Celeste Acosta said.

Mexico’s next game will be Wednesday against Sweden in order to punch their ticket into the knockout rounds.
