Charter renewal approved for Palm Desert Charter Middle School

A new charter is now finalized for Palm Desert Charter Middle School.

The Desert Sands Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved the new charter Tuesday evening.

We previously reported in May that parents and teachers had voiced concerns that the district would want the school to operate independent of the district, which would have meant major changes for teachers and staff who are considered district employees. DSUSD Superintendent Scott Bailey said during a monthly coffee session that the renewal process was routine review process done every five years.

The school and the district were able to reach an agreement on a new charter three days before the deadline of June 30.
