DHS police pursuit ends in Palm Springs, 1 suspect in custody, 1 at large

One suspect is in custody and one suspect is still at large following a morning police pursuit that spanned Desert Hot Springs and Palm Springs, according to Lt. Hutchinson of the Palm Springs police department.

At around 7:30 this morning, Desert Hot Springs Police attempted a traffic stop of a green Dodge SUV. The Dodge failed to stop, and a pursuit followed.

During the DHS portion of the pursuit, the passenger attempted to exit the vehicle while it was in motion. The passenger was unable to do so, then the vehicle briefly pulled over to the shoulder to allow the passenger to exit and flee the scene.

The passenger is in custody for an existing warrant. He faces no charges for the pursuit.

DHSPD notified the Palm Springs Police Department when the vehicle crossed into their jurisdiction. The vehicle crashed near the intersection of Amado and Indian Canyon in Palm Springs. The driver then fled the scene.

The driver has been identified and is being actively pursued by law enforcement. His identity is not being released at this time.

No one is in custody at this time. Both suspects are still at large, according to PSPD.
