House destroyed by fire earlier in the day catches fire again

Fire crews returned to a residence in Desert Hot Springs after containing earlier in the day.

Cal Fire originally received reports of a structure fire at a residence on the 13000 block of United Street at around 12:30 PM. Crews were able to contain the fire just 30 minutes later, however, the residence suffered $100,000 in losses, according to Cal Fire.

Hours later, just after 6:30 PM, the residence caught on fire again. Crews returned to the scene and are attacking the blaze again. Cal Fire crews were able to contain the fire shortly before 9 PM.

At this time, Cal Fire officials said they are investigating the cause of the fires and believe high winds and high heat may have contributed to the second fire. Stay with KESQ & CBS Local 2 for any updates.
