Truck driver identified in deadly freeway wreck

Authorities identified the driver of a big rig semi who was killed in a wreck on the 60 Freeway late Tuesday night.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office said Florentino Hernandez, 60, of Castaic died at a hospital shortly after the rollover crash.

All westbound lanes of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway were closed at the Interstate 10 interchange Tuesday night after the driver of a big rig had to be freed from his overturned truck.

The crash occurred on the westbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway at Western Knolls Avenue about 9:20 p.m., according to Jody Hagemann with the Riverside County Fire Department.

In addition to the closure on the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, Caltrans has also closed the transition from the eastbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway to the westbound Interstate 10.

Hernandez was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
