DHS Police arrest two in a stolen car transporting narcotics
Desert Hot Springs police officers arrested a man and a woman in a stolen car. They are also accused of transporting narcotics in the stolen vehicle.
Ashley Turcott, 28, of Palm Springs and Jonathon Buduan, 46, of Desert Hot Springs were arrested Friday at approximately 11:18 am in the area of Palm Drive and Hacienda Avenue. According to a news release by the DHS PD, officers were originally called to the area after receiving reports from the owner of a stolen Honda sedan who tracked the vehicle to the area. The sedan was previously reported stolen in Thousand Palms.

The news release mentions that officers located the vehicle parked unoccupied in a driveway in the 66900 block of Hacienda Avenue. Officers kept surveillance on the vehicle, five minutes later, Turcott and Burduan entered the vehicle and pulled out of the driveway. DHSPD units converged and conducted a high-risk vehicle stop. Both suspects were detained without incident.

Police said they found a substantial amount of controlled substances including amounts of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, and several types of prescription pills during a search of the suspects and the vehicle. According to the news release, the packaging and other items located were indicative of possession for sales of narcotics.

Burduan and Turcott were booked into the Riverside County Jail in Banning on possession and transportation charges. Buduan was charged for possession of a stolen vehicle and violation of probation.
