Woman nearly killed by her dog has “regained feeling” in fingers according to sister
A GoFundMe page has been started for the woman nearly killed by her dog in a vicious attack Monday evening in Palm Springs, according to her sister, Alexandria Musick.
According to the campaign page, Lauren Musick is still in the intensive care unit but has regained feeling in her fingers.
The page, created by a family friend, also reveals that doctors originally wanted to take her left arm and her right hand. The page had raised 2,010 toward its $15,000 goal at the time of this publication.
Musick was attacked multiple times by her 6- to 7-year-old pit bull Monday at approximately 6:15 p.m. outside her apartment on the 53000 block of Waverly Drive. Residents recalled hearing Musick scream for help during the initial attack.
A neighbor stepped in and helped stop the initial attack but the dog found a way to Musick’s front door and continued to attack her.

Palm Springs police said they had to taser the dog to stop the attack, then again when the dog continued to attack the officers. The dog was finally subdued after being tasered several times by officers.
Despite being in critical condition, Musick was reportedly talking before undergoing the first of several surgeries. The dog died on the way to Palm Springs animal control. The dog did not die from the effects of the taser, according to Palm Springs Police Captain Mike Kovaleff.
Police are conducting tests on pit bull to determine what caused it to lash out aggressively. According to police at the scene, the dog had no prior recorded instances of violence.
Neighbors said Musick had recently moved in to the apartment complex and had told them she had rescued the pit bull, after seeing the dog “chained up” and “badly abused.”
