Border Patrol finds $71K worth of opium paste taped to man’s “buttocks”
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrest suspected narcotics smuggler who allegedly had more than two pounds of opium paste concealed on his body on the 4th of July.
Agents encountered a 28-year-old male U.S. citizen driving a brown Mitsubishi Endeavor at the Highway 86 checkpoint at 8 a.m. on the 4th of July. During secondary inspection, agents determined that “the man had illegal substances taped to his buttocks.”
Border Patrol stated the substance was determined to be opium paste with a combined weight of 2.23 pounds and an estimated street value of $71,360.
Agents turned the man, the vehicle, and the narcotics over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
