Fallen power line may have sparked Indio house fire

Firefighters were working to contain a house fire in Indio early Monday morning.

They were called to the 82400 block of El Paseo in Indio at 3:25 a.m. in a neighborhood just east of Monroe Street and north of Indio Boulevard.

Firefighters on scene say strong overnight winds caused a power pole to fall on the home, sparking a fire in the attic.

22 Firefighters with five engines contained the fire at 4:02 a.m. limiting the flames to an attic area.

The American Red Cross was called in to help four adults who have been displaced.

There were no injuries reported, but firefighters said 30 homes were cut off from power because of the fire. They say it could take 10 hours to restore all service.
