Chance of thunderstorms striking Coachella Valley throughout day

Warm weather is accompanied by chances of thunderstorms in the deserts, mountains and even some inland valleys through Thursday.

High temperatures for the metropolitan Riverside area are expected to remain in the high 90s for the rest of the week and possibly return to triple digits this weekend. Today’s high in the Coachella Valley is forecast to be in the low triple digits.

Riverside set record high temperatures Friday and Saturday with the mercury topping out at 113 over the weekend.

The NWS issued a heat advisory for the metropolitan Riverside area every day over the weekend, with the last warning ending at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Strong gusty winds blowing dust to the west were expected to move through the Coachella Valley and affect San Diego County Deserts along with the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, possibly reducing visibility to a mile or less in some locations.
