Drivers flock to local car wash after monsoonal rains
This car is getting a deep cleaning at Airport Quick Car Wash in Palm Springs. It’s one of many needing a good cleaning after being pelted with rain and dirt.
“With the sand blowing and then with the thunderstorms, it just left it filthy,” Francisco Gurrola of Palm Springs, said.
“I wouldn’t be here if it didn’t look good,” Jimmy Ziolkowski of Palm Springs, said. “It’s destroyed. My son washed it like four days ago.”
Dirt stained cars are made new again by these employees, busy wiping every spot.
Manager Damian Henriquez said he’s seeing a slight uptick in the number of cars coming in Wednesday due to the recent showers.
“It’s good,” he said. “It’s going to be busy day. It’s going to be a long, long day for us and for the all the employees.”

“Rain in the desert? It never rains in Southern California,” Zoilkowski said. “Ha! So yes, it was a shocker.”
Employees at the car wash say while it’s important to use soap and water for your vehicle, but there’s one more component that you need to ensure it remains pristine.
“Wax the car, and protect the paint from the sun, and a lot of people follow my advice,” Henriquez said.
It’s protection to ensure these vehicles can remain spotless. Employees also want to remind drivers to check their windshield wipers to ensure a good cleaning.
