Living Desert Zoo expansion hits construction milestone

The Living Desert zoo will adorn its new Crossroads of Conservation’s Welcome Center with the zoo’s logo atop a 30-foot tower today, a milestone in the ongoing construction of the zoo’s expansion project.

Living Desert officials broke ground last spring on the Crossroads of Conservation, a new entry plaza to the zoo that will feature a more easily accessible entrance, expedited ticketing, an expanded gift shop, the Living Legacy Endowment Garden, and more.

The new entrance is nearing completion, with a grand opening slated for Nov. 3.

The Crossroads of Conservation is the first phase in a 25-year master plan that is expected to include new animal exhibits and a special events center.
