Law enforcement investigates apparent Coachella murder-suicide

The bodies of two people found dead in Mecca was being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Riverside County Sheriffs Deputies were called to an apartment complex along the 53000 block of Cesar Chavez Street Thursday evening at 5:44 p.m.

A caller reported returning home to find two family members dead inside an apartment.

The Sheriffs Department says investigators from the Thermal Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The department was releasing no further details due to the investigation.

The names of the dead were also being withheld pending family notification.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Central Homicide Investigator Bishop at (951) 955-2777, or Thermal Station Investigator Ortega at (760) 863-8990.
