Roads clear near Cactus City rest area after major injury collision

A major injury collision near the Cactus City rest area on I-10 W blocked all westbound lanes for about an hour earlier this afternoon, The collision was reported just before 12:30 p.m. today. Traffic has since cleared.

The collision was caused when a van crashed into the rear of a big rig. The passenger of the van was airlifted by helicopter an area hospital with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the van sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the big rig did not sustain any injuries. The big rig sustained minor damage.
