Whitewater Preserve closed due to bear sighting

The Whitewater preserve has been shut down due to a black bear sighting, as confirmed by the park manager.

The black bear was spotted in a tree by campers this morning.

The bear climbed down the tree and departed the area near the campers around 10:15 a.m.

At this time, the Preserve is set to be closed for the remainder of the day out of an abundance of caution.

If there are no more sightings throughout the day, the Preserve will be reopened.
