Buzz trolleys returning to Palm Springs

The Buzz trolley in Palm Springs is coming back.

The city council voted 3-2 to agree to a two-year commitment with Sunline that would cost the city $346,500 per year. Under the new agreement, three trolleys will run year-round on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In last week’s city council meeting, Sunline presented the council with four different scenarios for the service. One of them had the Buzz running from September to April as a cost ranging between $200,000 to $300,000.

The Buzz ended services on June 30 due to costs to the city. The service used to cost the city about $900,000 a year.

Council members Lisa Middleton, Geoff Kors, and Christy Holstege voted to bring back the service, with Mayor Robert Moon and council member J.R. Roberts being the no votes.
