Family & friends holding car wash to raise money for funeral
The family of a Moreno Valley woman killed in a rollover crash in Desert Center over the weekend will hold a car wash fundraiser tomorrow.
Rachel Lopez, 40, a mother of seven children and grandmother to five, was killed after her car veered off Interstate 10 and overturned. Her husband and two children were in the car with her at the time and survived.
“Everyone is taking it differently. We’re all taking it differently. We’re trying to stay strong for my aunt because we know that’s what she would want us to do,” said Johnny Ramirez, Lopez’s godson.
A car wash fundraiser will be held Friday at 83191 HWY 111 in Indio starting at 8 a.m. Friends and family hope to raise money for her funeral expenses. If you can’t make the car wash, the family has also set-up a GoFundMe page.
“We’ll appreciate any kind of help we can get or support in any way, financially, physically, prayers. However, any kind of help is appreciated.” Ramirez said.
Lopez’s funeral is scheduled for August 1.
