Man arrested for fatal DUI crash in Desert Hot Springs
A Sky Valley man has been arrested after a fatal crash in Desert Hot Springs Friday night. DHS Police arrested 25 year old Adrian Villalobos for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Officers said he struck a 58 year old female pedestrian.
The crash happened in the area of Palm Drive and and Buena Vista Avenue shortly before 8:15 p.m. First responders arrived and found the woman dead at the scene.
DHS Police officers said Villalobos, the driver, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. They said the woman was walking across Palm Drive in the middle of the roadway.
Roads were shut down for several hours, as officers investigated, and have now reopened to traffic.
The identity of the woman killed has not yet been released.
The Desert Hot Springs Police Department recently introduced a new motorcycle officer to help monitor Palm Drive. The officer is out on the road from 5:30 a.m. until 10 a.m and evening commute hours.
