Police activity stops I-10 westbound traffic

Westbound traffic on Interstate 10 was brought to a halt near the Whitewater Rest Stop on Sunday evening, backing up traffic around 5 p.m..

Viewer video from the scene showed a man standing in the freeway lanes with several California Highway Patrol officers braced behind their vehicles. All westbound lanes were closed and traffic could be seen behind the patrol vehicles. The lanes were reopened by 6:30 p.m.

The public information officer and dispatch officers with the California Highway Patrol did not respond to messages left Sunday and no other information was available. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 hopes more information will be released on Monday. Please check back for updates.
