Joshua Springs cancels football program for 2018 season

Athletic Director Gabriel Hammett told Sports Director Blake Arthur and Cody Krupp on Tuesday night that the Lightning will not have a football team this season.

The following statement was released by the school:

Last year, Joshua Springs Christian Schools made a bold decision to create a safe school zone with its drug-free campus. Due to the accountability of the program, and subsequent choices made by some individuals, our student body enrollment has decreased.

Our focus is to raise up students in all areas: academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. As a school, we still have the student count, staffing, equipment, schedule, and the intent to participate in CIF athletic contests.

Unfortunately, after much thought, effort, and, prayer, due to lack of numbers for these programs, we will not be fielding a high school nor middle school football team for the 2018 season.

Coaching staff will open the weight room each morning for student athletes to condition and prepare for our other sports.
