Updated Cranston Fire evacuation centers
Two major evacuation center have been set-up for the Cranston Fire currently burning near Mountain Center.
Latest Updates on Cranston Fire burning near Idyllwild
The fire prompted mandatory evacuations for all of Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and Fern Valley. Residents of the area are asked to leave immediately. All residents south-east of Apple Canyon, Hurkey Creek, Bonita Vista, Lake Hemet campground, and Camp Scherman Girlscout Camp have also been evacuated.
According to the San Bernardino National Forest, 2,174 homes and 3,200 people were evacuated Wednesday.
Residents and those looking to reunite with campers have been moved to Banning High School. Small animals have also been moved to Banning High School.
At one point during the day, 500 people were Banning High School seeking a place to evacuate.
The Hamilton High School care and reception center at 5743 Mitchell Road in the community of Anza is open for those displaced by fires or dealing with outages.
The San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus at 581 South Grand in San Jacinto is accepting all animals, both domestic and large animals.
We received word from the Silent Valley Club on 46305 Poppet Flats Rd in Banning is taking in evacuees, free of charge
We also received word from Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, announcing that they are hosting the remaining 110 students of the Idyllwild School for the Arts and faculty at their campus for dinner. They have listed ways you can help those students on their website.
As of 8:0 a.m. Friday, the fire is 11,500-acres, 3 percent contained.
