Indio woman asks CBS Local 2 for help in resolving her SUV paint complaint
Patricia Winford looked over what she called a “bad paint job”, on her 2016 Hyundai Tuscon.
“There is a lot of bubbles underneath the paint that they sprayed over as well, so I’m just not satifisfied,” said Winford.
Sections of the SUV were re-painted after repair work was peformed on the Hyundai, after it was damaged recently while going through the AM PM carwash on Golf Center Parkway in Indio.
Patricia says she and her husband heard something hard hitting the side of the SUV as they were going throught the wash. After exiting the wash, they drove around to the side of the building and then discovered the damage to the SUV.
Patricia says the damage was scratches and dents to the left back quarter panel, and the back door on the Tuscon caused by a bungee cord caught up in the car wash machinery, and the damage has since been repaired.
But its the paint job she and her husband Michael are not happy with.
Most likely impossible for most people to see in the footage we captured with our news camera, Patricia and Michael insist the areas painted are a darker shade compared to the orginal paint, and they say the new paint is not “blended with the original coat”.
Winford provided photos to CBS Local 2, which she says better highlight the difference in the shades of silver.
“The damage, yeah the dents were taken off, but the paint on it, it doesn’t match the rest of my vehicle,” said Winford.
Authenic Collision in Indio is the shop which performed the repair work, including the paint job, and the work was paid for by the Chandi Group which owns the AM PM store.
“I don’t want any money off this, I just wanted my vehicle to be fixed, that is all i wanted,” said Winford.
Patricia says a represenative for Chandi suggested she take the damaged Tuscon to Authentic.
But, the homecare worker says the $450 dollars Chandi Group paid to repair the damage was “not enough for the work that should have been done” to get the SUV back to its original appearance.
Windford said that after signing and accepting the payout from Chandi Group and after the repair work and paint job was performed.
“I want it re-done and done correctly,” said Winford.
Winford contacted CBS Local 2 and asked us to “Stand for Her”, after she says the owner at Authentic Collision would not correct the paint job when she expressed her concerns to him.
“He just told me, I’m sorry i couldn’t match it to your satisifaction,” said Winford.
After talking with Winford, CBS Local 2 spoke with Simon at Authentic, who said he is now willing to paint the car again ,including blending the new paint with the old.
“I will be satisfied. If they do a correct job, then i will be satisfied,” said Winford.
After CBS Local 2 informed Patricia Winford that Authentic Collision was willing to correct the paint job, Winford told us she has decided to take her SUV to a different body shop to handle the job.
She said she “would be more comfortable” taking her SUV to another body shop.
