Temecula man charged with 15 felony counts, including starting Cranston Fire

Police have detained a man believed to have started the wildfire burning near Idyllwild and Mountain Center.

CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers arrested Brandon N. McGlover, 32, of Temecula at around 12:30 p.m. near Newport Road and Scott Road south of Hemet, Cal Fire confirmed.

According to CHP, the Hemet Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a vehicle that matched the description of a suspect vehicle. The suspect was arrested following an enforcement stop along with CHP.

A news release by Cal Fire reveals McGlover is accused of setting multiple fires in the county today. He has been charged with arson to wildland. Additional charges may be added as the investigation continues.

On Friday, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged McGlover with 15 felonies for nine fires, all of which he allegedly started on the same day. McGlover has been charged with one count of aggravated arson, five counts of arson of an inhabited structure, and nine counts of arson of forest or
wildland. If convicted as currently charged, McGlover faces a potential life sentence.

McGlover faces a potential life sentence if convicted as currently charged. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Murrieta.
