Man stabbed in parking lot of Cathedral City theater, suspect at-large
Cathedral City Police are seeking a suspect wanted in connection with an early morning stabbing in the parking lot of the Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City.
At approximately 3:30 a.m.m CCPD received a call of an assault on the 36850 block of Pickfair St. in Cathedral City. The caller reported being stabbed by an unidentified suspect.
Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper torso. Following a preliminary investigation, law enforcement learned that the victim was walking in the southeast parking lot of the Mary Pickford Theater when he was approached and slashed with an unknown edged tool or weapon by an unidentified suspect.
The suspect, described as a “Hispanic Male Adult weighing about 135 pounds wearing a white t-shirt,” according to the CCPD news release, then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
An extensive area sweep was conducted by police, but the suspect was not located.
The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown at this time.
