Two earthquakes, one magnitude 4.4., strike near Aguanga in 30 minute span
Two earthquakes struck near the area of Aguanga in the span of 30 minutes, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed.
The first earthquake was reported at 6:24 p.m., a 4.4 magnitude struck about 4 miles east-northeast of Aguanga.
Aguanga is a little north of the Cleveland National Forest, where the 22,986 acres Holy Fire is currently burning.
We received multiple reports from viewers who felt it in cities all across the Coachella Valley. We’ve even received some reports from viewers who say they felt it in the San Jacinto Mountains.

“Yes! Felt it near Demuth Park in Palm Springs. It seems like it lasted a while.” “Yep my NON rocking chair was rocking!!” “Several seconds of rockin in palm desert!” “I felt it in Cathedral City!!! Heard it… then I felt it!!!” “At Lake Hemet Campground, felt it.”
The second, a magnitude-3.0, struck 29 minutes later in the same general area, the USGS reported.
