Power restored following outage that affected 20,000 customers

Power is back an hour after an outage in Desert Hot Springs left over 20,000 Southern California Edison customers without power.

According to SCE, 20,549 customers are without power as of 5:00 p.m. That number is down from 40 minutes ago when 20,994 customers were affected.

The outage originated near the area behind Bubbling Wells Elementary School.

SCE crews reported that the outage was caused by equipment problems.
