Day Two of “Idyllwild Strong” Festival a Success

While the rain dampened the festival fun on Friday, Saturday brought beautiful weather and hundreds of festival-goers to Idyllwild’s benefit event: “Idyllwild Strong.”

The town has been organizing this event for weeks. It began on Friday and will continue until Sunday evening, featuring nearly 80 bands, raffles, auctions, vendors, food and drink stations. All donations are tax-deductible and all proceeds go to those affected by the Cranston Fire.

“There was our teacher in preschool…Ms. Mary…her house burned down. I hope that she can get a new house and restore all the things she lost,” said young Idyllwild resident, Zoey Mason.

Sunday, August 18, will be the final day and last opportunity to donate to the festival’s non-profit organization. “I hope that other people from probably down the hill come tomorrow so that we can donate some money to people who lost their homes,” said Lily Darling.

Some musicians and vendors traveled from the Coachella Valley to be a part of the festival. “It’s not that far of a drive…we can’t let our community down…they’re still part of us even though they’re up the mountain,” said vendor Dawn Huntington.
