Man blinded in 1993 La Quinta Circle K shooting to compete in water skiing championship

Scott Leason was blinded when he was shot in an armed robbery on July 4th, 1993 at the Circle K store in La Quinta on Calle Tampico.

Now he lives in San Diego and is the current U.S. Visually Impaired National Surfing Champion and the current U.S. Silver medalist is Adaptive Water Skiing and Trick Skiing.

We have brought you coverage on Leason’s journey for more than twenty years including this story in 2013 as he prepared to ride in the Tour de Palm Springs.

He is raising money now to travel to 25 th Disabled Water-ski Nationals in Paducah, Kentucky.
