Traveling Trump Tribute Visits La Quinta

On Sunday, the “Trump Unity Bridge” — a large mobile tribute to President Trump that has been traveling the country — made a stop here in the Coachella Valley. The float has been traveling the country since the end of July. Rob Cortis, the man behind the bridge, pulled into the Republican Headquarters in La Quinta around 8pm on Sunday. The float was originally going to arrive around 6pm, but Cortis says they experienced some car trouble on the way.

“I came up with the idea…I got divorced my wife got the house and I got the bridge […] The Pope says Donald Trump needs to be building bridges not walls and the media says Trump needs to unite America if he thinks he’s going to win the election and I said you know what? I got my new marketing campaign,” said Cortis.

Cortis plans to visit 46 states on his tour, funded by donations on his gofundme page. Local republicans were eager to show their support for Cortis and the President.

“We need to be for our president. We voted for him. He actually got enough votes to win. And so people actually do believe what he was for. And so we need to stand up for our president and support him,” said Joy Miedecke.

“I’m so excited to support our president right now and the big reason is is because he’s changing our world economically right now,” said Christy Lane.

And some Republicans, hoping to start a conversation rather than a confrontation. “Just go up and engage people and talk to people. You know most people really are good people…we’re friendly we want to exchange ideas and we want to hear from other people,” said Michael Harrington.
