H.N. & Frances C. Berger Foundation surprises SongShine Foundation with $10,000

SongShine Foundation is singing to the tune of $10,000 after receiving quite the surprise this morning from the H.N. & Frances C. Berger Foundation.

The nonprofit provides low and no cost speech restoration programs using music and drama for those who suffer from speech or voice loss. Students usually have Parkinson’s disease, neurological issues, stroke, or aging.

The money received today is expected to support a DVD and CD outreach project and continue providing services and support to SongShine students and their families.

“SongShine has been a great recipient because there’s no one else that I know that does what they do,” said Catharine Reed, who presented today’s check from the Berger Foundation.

“It’s just a thrill that they are seeing us, that we’re being seen by folks like the Berger Foundation,” said Peter Harris, program director for SongShine Foundation.

If you know of an organization worthy of receiving a Spotlight grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, applications are available now.
