Palm Springs police investigate shooting at apartment complex

Palm Springs police officers are investigating shooting at an apartment complex.

Officers received reports of shots fired at around 4:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Rosa Parks Road. Sgt. Mike Casavan, public information officer for the PSPD, confirmed that the incident was indeed a shooting.

“Around 4:30 this afternoon, we received a call of 4 to 5 shots fired around the 500 block of Rosa Parks. When we arrived on scene, witnesses pointed to a vehicle, we found bullet holes in that vehicle. We also identified that there was blood on the seat of that vehicle,” said Lt. William Hutchinson of PSPD.

Casavan also confirmed that a victim showed up at Desert Regional with a gunshot and is being treated. That victim is being interviewed by officers to confirm if the two are related.

“We don’t know if the shooting actually occurred here. We do know there were sounds of shots fired, but at this time we don’t know what that is from. Shortly after we found that there was a person that showed up to the hospital that was shot a few times,” Hutchinson told KESQ & CBS Local 2.

Hutchinson confirmed the victim is an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Indio. The victim was shot multiple times and his injuries are non-life threatening.

Officers aren’t ready to say both incidents are related, as the victim is not cooperating with police.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PSPD at 760-323-8115. Anonymous crime tips can be called into Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867
