Comic Con returns to Palm Springs for third year

Hundreds of fans traveled to the desert this weekend to enjoy the third year of Comic Con Palm Springs. While last year’s event was held in a convention center, this year’s main event is at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Fans say the venue choice adds to the “larger-than-life” experience they love at Comic Con events.

“A lot of our super heroes Captain America, Black Panther…they’re all fighting for good and they all kind of have that background with the planes and the army guys…and it’s all kind of that positive, fight evil…good against evil kind of theme. So I think this is a good place to do it,” said Tyler King, a Comic Con attendee.

Some visitors even traveled from as far as Mexico and Canada to attend the festivities. The three day event has several panel speakers, animated film screenings, vendors and activities for comic-lovers to enjoy.

“It’s a whole group of a bunch of people coming together…really having a safe place to express how much they appreciate the kind of media that we consume […] Really it’s just a collection of a bunch of nerds getting to hang out and I think that’s top dollar,” said Mae Dae, a Comic Con guest.

Many fans are looking forward to the “Zombie Walk 3.0,” taking place at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Air Museum. Some events are also hosted at the Palm Springs Cultural Center as well as the Renaissance hotel. You can still purchase tickets online and find the full event schedule here.
