Ex-con charged with murder in connection with Banning shooting
An ex-con accused of fatally shooting a man multiple times in Banning was booked today on suspicion of murder.
The shooting occurred just before 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of W. Ramsey Street. Officers found the victim, whose name was withheld, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Banning Police Department. He died at the scene.
Patrick Joseph Soward, 61, was arrested on North Murray Street in Banning and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning this morning on suspicion of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm, with bail set at $1 million.
His connection, if any, to the victim was not disclosed by police.
