Man in serious condition following Palm Springs hit and run
A man has been hospitalized in serious condition following an early morning hit and run crash in Palm Springs.
Police and firefighters are on the scene of the collision, which forced the closure of East Vista Chino shortly before 5:00 a.m.
The normally busy roadway was closed between North Farrell Drive and Whitewater Club Drive until 10 a.m., according to PSPD.
Palm Springs Police also said they located a suspect vehicle, a silver Volkswagon sedan at a nearby home to the east in the Rio Vista neighborhood of Cathedral City on Avenida Quintana near Verona Road and Shadowcrest Lane.
A police statement said the driver of the vehicle, Randy Miller, was arrested at his Cathedral City residence on charges of Felony Hit and Run. His vehicle was taken away on a flatbed tow truck.
Palm Springs Police said the man who was struck is a resident of Cathedral City.
Drivers on Vista Chino were asked to use an alternate route. Other routes include Interstate 10, Ramon Road, Dinah Shore Drive, or Highway 111 in and out of Palm Springs.
Police are investigating to determine whether any drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Vista Chino was expected to reopen at approximately 10:00 a.m., between Farrell Drive and Whitewater Club Drive.
Investigators were also seeking information from anyone who might have witnessed the crash. Please call the PSPD traffic unit at 760-323-8125 or anonymous tips can be reported to Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867
