Cathedral City man shot and killed in Palm Springs
Police in Palm Springs were conducting a homicide investigation Wednesday morning in the Desert Highland Gateway Estates neighborhood.
Palm Springs Police Sgt. Mike Casavan said the department received a call of a shooting along the 500 Block of Rosa Parks last night around 10:30 p.m.
Casavan said officers got to the scene near Granada Avenue and found a vehicle crashed into a concrete wall.
The vehicle’s driver, a 27-year-old black male adult of Cathedral City, was found dead at the scene.
During an attempt to render aid, firefighters said it appeared the man in the vehicle suffered from one or more gunshot wounds.
Police say no witnesses have yet come forward, and it’s too early to tell if the crime was gang-related.
The intersection of Rosa Parks Drive and Granada Avenue was expected to be closed for some time Wednesday morning, according to police.
A homicide investigations team was called in, along with deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
