Tesloop suspending shuttle operations on October 1
The Tesloop Shuttle, a car mobility service operating with routes from the Coachella Valley to Las Vegas, San Diego, and Los Angeles, will be ceasing operations on October 1, according to Haydn Sonnad, the founder of Tesloop.
“For the time being, in relation to California State permitting issues that are controlled by the Public Utilities Commission, we are suspending our operations of ‘Tesloop Shuttle’, effective October 1st, 2018,” said Sonnad. “We expect to reconfigure our mobility service offerings around Carmiq in the future, once our new expanded PSC permitting is issued. These will include a broader variety of offerings in more locations inside and outside of California. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this transition may cause to our existing passengers who have supported us thus far.”
In March, the service had added the Las Vegas route to its local offerings. The fare for a trip from Palm Sprngs to Las Vegas could run as low as $79, and included snacks, beverages, pillows, noise-canceling headphones, and Wifi, all in the cosy confines of a Tesla Model X.
“This route was originally tested last year, and by popular demand, we are bringing it back,” said Sonnad when the Las Vegas route was originally announced. “Combined with our own passenger management platform and a high level of customer service, we feel the communities in Las Vegas and Palm Springs are ready for an inspiring next-generation transportation option that is all electric and zero emissions.”

Tesloop, which is not affiliated with Elon’s Musk’s Palo-Alto based Tesla corporation, was founded in 2015, offering rideshares between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Sonnad mentioned in a statement that his company will be redirecting its efforts to a new project.
Moving forward, we are shifting our focus to our new product, Carmiq, which will be the world’s first connected car community. Carmiq is designed to make electric connected car ownership and usage increasingly effortless, economical, and beneficial by leveraging the vehicle data feeds to connect owners to a range of services.
Tesloop came to the Coachella Valley in August 2016, and quickly local praise.
“This new service is the perfect complement to convenient transportation options offered in the City of Palm Springs,” said Mary Jo Ginther, director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. “With a centrally located international airport, Amtrak service, in-market transportation such as taxis and van service, the City’s free Buzz Trolley and Uber, Tesloop creates another great yet unique, affordable way for visitors to travel to Palm Springs.”
