Indio Police Department seeks new recruits to fill 13 officer shortage
Retirements, moves, and promotions proved to swiftly leave the Indio Police Department short thirteen officers. The openings, which come with a comfortable wage and great benefits, are aching to be filled, and when that void is completed, the city as a whole is set to benefit big time.
According to IPD Sergeant Dan Marshall, the force is going all in on finding its new officers;
“We are kind of going full-court press in the recruitment,” said Marshall.
Experienced law enforcement will be due generous compensation if they look to go for the new spots on the force.
You come here with several years of experience we’re advertising for 102-thousand dollars [per year]”, said Marshall.
For a rookie police officer in Indio, the starting salary in 76-thousand dollars. But the cash and civic incentives aren’t the end to the perks of joining IPD; the agency officers some of the most state of the art equipment for its officers.
Well equipped and well compensated, the new officers will do wonders for the desert city.
“The hirings will] improve 911 response times,” said Marshall. “With the extra patrol it will reduce the time when people might be waiting for an officer to report a crime.”
For those looking to join IPD, the requirements are straightforward; you need to be at least 21-years-old, you need to have a clean criminal record, and you need to be a graduate of a basic California Police Academy.
