Palm Springs bank robber sentenced to 7.5+ years in federal prison
A bald parolee who stuck up a Palm Springs bank with an air pistol while wearing a blonde wig was sentenced today in Los Angeles to nearly seven years in federal prison.
Anthony Tyrone Mack, 41, of Palm Springs was ordered by U.S. District Judge Andre Birotte Jr. to serve five years of supervised release following the 80-month prison term.
Mack robbed the Citibank branch at 1675 E. Palm Canyon Drive of $3,835 on May 1, 2017. He was caught shortly afterward following a foot chase.
Police said Mack shed the wig after running south out of the bank. Officers used a Taser to subdue him and take him into custody.
The parolee pleaded guilty in January to an armed bank robbery charge in Los Angeles federal court.
