La Quinta man arrested for alleged dealership burglary

A man was arrested Sunday for the suspected burglary of a La Quinta dealership.

On Oct. 21 at 5:39 a.m. La Quinta Police officers responded to a vehicle dealership on the 72-200 block of Highway 111. The person who made the call reported seeing a suspicious person looking through vehicles in the lot.

Upon arrival the officers found a man, later identified as 27-year-old Cole Sanders of La Quinta, driving a vehicle on the property. Sanders was unable to drive the vehicle off the property because the security gate on the parking lot was locked.

Officers ordered Sanders to stop, he initially refused, then eventually stopped the vehicle. Officers detained Sanders for questioning. An investigation revealed that Sander allegedly burglarized the dealership, allegedly stealing $15,000 worth of tools and a 2017 Cadillac CTS valued at $60,000. He was arrested and booked into Indio Jail.

Anyone with information relating to this case is urged to contact Deputy Castelan of the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760-863-8990.
