Palm Springs Castaeda’s robbed at gunpoint, 5th valley shop recently robbed
Employees at the Castañeda’s on S Paseo Dorotea and Ramon Road in Palm Springs say a masked man robbed their restaurant last month.
One worker said the man directed them to the register and demanded all of the money.
Employees reached out to KESQ & CBS Local 2 after noticing similarities between this hold-up and the numerous other armed robberies we’ve been reporting at shops and restaurants around the Coachella Valley.
Just a few days ago, the Mi Tierra bakery and the nearby Metro PCS in Coachella were also robbed by a masked man. In Indio, the Coco Freeze was robbed on Sunday and the Tapatio restaurant was robbed last Thursday.
Authorities say reporting every possible detail in these cases is essential.
“Stay calm…do as you’re told…pay attention to details with the individual. We are going to ask for things like did they sound a certain way…could you make out the race of the individual…how about any clothing did they say anything specific to you or in a certain way,” said Palm Springs police Lieutenant William Hutchinson. “These are high profile cases these are people that need to be brought to justice.”
Castañeda’s is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Management is considering employing a security guard to keep late-night employees safe. Authorities also say employers should talk with their employees and have a plan in place for a robbery.
If you have any information about this case call Valley Crimestoppers at 760-341-7867. You can remain anonymous if you choose and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
