Student Athlete of the Week – Halle Carter
It does not take long to see the dominance of La Quinta’s Halle Carter. 6 foot 1 with long arms, long legs, and a rocket swing. She finished 2nd in the league with nearly 300 kills and finished first in the league with how many she cranked it per set.
“I grew really tall and changed to an outside hitter. I really excelled in the position. That is when I realized I could go somewhere with this,” Halle Carter said.
On the way to making that happen someday on the college level.
“Kind of nerve wracking but when colleges contact you, you can kind of imagine your future and see where you are going with this. It is kind of exciting to be able to imagine that,” Carter said.
She does not just speak the words but she takes action as all year long she is chasing that goal.
“Summer I have like one month off but usually during summer I’m doing summer camps,” Carter said.
She may be fierce on the court but off the court shy, sweet, and humble after the final point.
“Thing about Halle is that she is better than she thinks she is. She is very humble and doesn’t take the credit for herself,” said head coach Ronda Sommaripa.
“I never like the attention so much on me. People say oh you’re amazing oh you’re great but i always think there is a team effort in this. I can bring out the team but I think I didn’t do this myself. There is a setter to set me, a passer to get the set. I don’t always think about it myself but everyone is here to help me,” Carter said.>
