Banning Unified School District janitor arrested for lewd acts with minor
A Banning Unified School District janitor was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a minor.
37-year-old Bernard Fontes was arrested on Sunday at 2:00 a.m. as the result of Banning Police Department investigation. Fontes was identified, located, and subsequently arrested at his residence in Banning. He was booked in Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for lewd and lascivious acts of aged under 14, a felony.
Fontes is employed by Banning Unified School District as a janitor. and Banning PD made the District aware of the allegations. BPD is working in conjunction with the District in this investigation, and in ensuring that all students and staff of the District remain safe.
Fontes is free on $55,000 bail and is set to appear in court on December 5.
It is unknown at this time if there any additional victims, according to the Banning Police Department.
