Halloween safety tricks and tips for parents
The frights of Halloween night can cause some parents to worry — but not to fret, some helpful apps can make an evening full of candy even sweeter.
1. Life 360 / Footprints / Find My Friends — Phone GPS tracking apps can help parents easily find their trick-or-treaters whereabouts on Halloween. Make sure your kids have a cellphone located with them throughout the night. Try installing the app ahead of time to make sure the phone’s location settings are working properly.
2. FBI Child ID — Parents can create an identity profile for children with this app, including height, weight, date of birth and any distinguishing physical features to readily send to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children if your child were to go missing.
3. Sex Offender Search — Track nearby registered sex offenders living in your neighborhood with this app. You can also find most mug shots and crimes also publicly listed.
4. eRecall — Check to see if the candy you’ll consume has been recalled or not by scanning the item’s barcode with this easy-to-use app.
5. American Red Cross First Aid — In case anything goes wrong, find medical solutions and information with this app.
