Halloween Safety Tips to Keep Kids Safe
Halloween is always the time of year to see little ghosts and goblins walking around collecting candy and there are many steps to keep your kids safe with their costumes or pumpkin carving.
If your helping make your child’s costume and plan on using face paint, watch out for the ingredients. The FDA does not approve color additives in face paint. They say a color that’s ok for hair and nails may not be ok for skin. If an ingredient isn’t FDA approved, experts suggest not using the product at all.
Take some care when carving pumpkins. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission says out of 45-hundred Halloween-related injuries last year, 41 percent were linked to making jack-o-lanterns. Safety experts suggest putting away sharp kitchen knives and using the small tools in carving kits. Finally, check the candy your child is getting to make sure they haven’t been tampered, or have been left with something other than treats.
