Injured bicyclist rescued in Palm Desert, transported to hospital

UPDATE: The bicyclist has been rescued. Cal Fire crews reached the victim, who had moderate injuries, at approximately 10:01 a.m. He was saved from the trail and transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.

The bicyclist sustained injuries following going head over the handlebars of the bike.

The injured hiker report came in at around 8:40 a.m. on the Hopalong Cassidy Trail, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Specific details on what kind of injury the hiker sustained were unavailable.

As of 9:30 a.m., firefighters began making their way to the victim, along with assistance from a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
