Man killed crossing the street in Cathedral City

A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Cathedral City.

Police on scene told KESQ & CBS Local 2 the man jaywalked near Whispering Palms and Ramon Road when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver called police and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators said there were beer bottles found near the pedestrian. They are currently conducting a blood test on both the pedestrian and the driver to see if either was under the influence.
