UPDATE: Father arrested in death of two-year-old

Early Tuesday morning, a hospital employee at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital called police due to “suspicious circumstances,” according to a news release by the Banning Police Department.

The employee told officers an adult male arrived at the hospital with a two-year-old female toddler who was not breathing and had an apparent head injury. When officers arrived at the hospital they learned the toddler had sustained head trauma and had succumbed to her injuries.

Officers began their investigation and detained the father of the toddler for further questioning. Detectives said they are still in the early stages of the investigation and will provide updates as they become available.
