City, business leaders gather for annual economic summit

Business and city leaders gathered in Palm Springs Thursday for the 14th Annual Greater Palm Springs Economic Summit.

It was put on by Coachella Valley Economic Partnership and featured lectures on the strategies and goals to make the region attractive for new business and investment. This included envisioning a future in 2050 where the Salton Sea becomes a major getaway destination, and how higher education can become a catalyst for a year round economy in the valley. One speaker believes the valley is moving forward in that direction.

“I think there’s universities. You knwo education is being transformed. How we learn especiallyv in tech is changing so being able to adapt to that and partner with industry is critical,” Ankur Gopal, the CEO of Interapt, said.

The economic report was also revealed showing that a recession won’t be forecasted in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, according to one expert.
