Fermon pulls ahead of Mayor Wilson in Indio council race

Waymond Fermon has pulled ahead of Mayor Mike Wilson by one vote in the race for Indio City Council.

The update comes as the Riverside Registrar continues to tally votes; the updated totals came in after 6PM today.

Before this most recent update, Wilson, the incumbent, was leading Indio native Fermon by 3 votes.

“From the beginning all the way to the end, we are very confident pull this out these three votes and three votes is very minuscule, so we’re very confident,” Fermon said.

Fermon had plenty reason to be optimistic, as it turns out.

Of 1,451 tallied votes, Fermon golds 726, while Wilson holds 725.

By the numbers, that’s a lead of 0.06%.

188,000 mail-in, 45,000 provisional, and 5,000 ballots remain to be counted and processed countywide, according to the Riverside Registrar.
